January 28, 2012 Carson's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View It was easy to spot the birthday boy as we arrived in our fire truck -- he's the young man in the fire coat, ready to play! We set up shop and threw open the doors, and Carson and his pals wasted no time in climbing all over the ladder truck....

January 28, 2012 Cade's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View The invites went out with a cautionary eye on the weather -- and a backup plan to move the party to our fire station in Livermore if it went bad -- but the sun was shining and Plan A remained -- and Engine 3 was able to visit with Cade and his pals at the park!...

January 22, 2012 Bruce's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View Braving the tail end of a very rainy weekend, Bruce and his guests set the weather aside to check out Engine 3 as part of his birthday celebration -- and didn't hesitate to splash some water of their own around!...

January 15, 2012 James' Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View A year in the making -- after we couldn't arrange the details in time last year, James' parents gave it another go, and we managed to get something big, red and shiny to visit his birthday this time around. While we may be a bit assuming, we're confident the visit was well worth the wait!...

December 16, 2011 Santa Comes for a Visit    (Category: Visit from Santa)
Click here to View Much to our surprise and wondering eyes, Santa arrived for a special, pre-Christmas Eve visit for a handful of good little boys and girls. (For a few days each year, our Engine 3 becomes Santa's Village Fire Department's Engine 3, and Santa hitches a ride with our crew.)...

December 4, 2011 Michael's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View As the plans were finalized and Michael's birthday on the horizon called for a fire truck, mom and dad called us. When it came time to pick one of our trucks for his big day, it seemed only fitting to send Quint 59 to Orinda, where it had served in its past life at the town's Station 41....

December 3, 2011 2011 Holiday Sights & Sounds Parade    (Category: Parades)
Click here to View Livermore again hosted its holiday Lights & Sounds parade downtown, and we brought out two trucks that hadn't yet had a chance to waltz down First Street "dressed" for the holidays. Engine 3 and Quint 53 rolled out the rope lights and traded in some of the red lights for green ones to present a red-and-green splashing of lights along the parade route!...

December 3, 2011 2011 Los Gatos Children's Holiday Parade    (Category: Parades)
Click here to View We again had the opportunity to give the kids from Teen Challenge a ride along the parade route of the 55th annual Los Gatos Children's Holiday Parade. With the banner hung high and the riders safety snuggled into the ladder's rungs, we were all set to "fly" them and their group's banner down the parade route in downtown Los Gatos!...

November 27, 2011 Benji's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View It was quite the to-do, what with the friends, a secluded venue to play and explore and party -- and that's all before we bid Benji and his guests goodbye as they headed downtown for a birthday lunch!...

November 23, 2011 Trey's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View With a birthday in the air this crisp day before Thanksgiving, it seemed a particularly exciting day -- the celebration of Trey's birthday and the anticipation of a long weekend from school for Trey and his guests....

November 19, 2011 Jagger's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View As his birthday drew near, Jagger's parents decided on a fire truck party theme for his big day. We rolled up and have him and his friends a big ol' toy to climb on, over, in and though, and may have *even* been big enough to outshine Spider-Man in all of his pinata glory!...

November 6, 2011 Nathan's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View We're always delighted to say yes to heading out to help celebrate a birthday party... but when the birthday boy is asking for our newest addition to the fleet specifically -- the lime green ladder truck -- we were tickled pink! On the big day, we were thrilled to bring Quint 53 to Nathan's birthday, let him and his friends check out the truck, and get things wet with the hose (a bonus that the rain stopped for the day to let the ground dry before and after our visit!)....

November 5, 2011 Alex's Birthday -- again!    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View Two years ago, we came out to help celebrate Alex's 3rd birthday... doing the math, it's now his 5th birthday, and we were invited back -- same truck and all -- to again party with Alex and his pals. Much like we recall from before, there was no shyness when it came to scooting in, on and through the apparatus... except this time around, they were just a bit faster-moving......

October 29, 2011 2011 Downtown Halloween Carnival    (Category: Fairs & Festivals)
Click here to View We again had the chance to participate in Livermore's downtown Halloween Carnival, spanning between the flagpole and South K Street (where we were setup). The back of the engine was a bit spookier than it usually is -- pesky cobwebs, jack-o-lanterns and the like -- but none of our several hundred visitors seemed much to mind....

October 22, 2011 Braden's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View As Braden's birthday drew near, his parents were looking for something a bit different to help celebrate the big day. They found us and the plans fell into place quickly at that point. We sent along Engine 3 to help Braden celebrate his birthday with his friends and family, explore the gear, tools and equipment inside the engine, and generally have a blast! ...

October 20, 2011 Fire Engine Visit and Safety Talk (Day 2)    (Category: Safety Demos)
Click here to View In our second of two visits (busy schedules for pre-school age children), we again brought out Engine 3 to talk a bit about fire safety, show our young visitors there's a helpful person under all that gear, and let them take a close-up look at the fire engine as a wrap-up of lessons associated with Fire Prevention Week last week....

October 14, 2011 Fire Engine Visit and Safety Talk (Day 1)    (Category: Safety Demos)
Click here to View In our first of two visits (busy schedules for pre-school age children, and younger), we brought out Engine 3 to talk a bit about fire safety, show our young visitors there's a helpful person under all that gear, and let them take a close-up look at the fire engine as they wrapped up their lessons during national Fire Prevention Week....

October 8, 2011 Madera's Heritage Day Fun Muster    (Category: Fun 'n Games)
Click here to View We headed south to see what the fun muster hosted during Madera's Heritage Day at the Park had to offer. Beyond the muster activities (with target ball, a rare find on the west coast in our experience) and apparatus display, there were activities for the kids -- and the Madera Historical Firefighters showed off their custom, homemade and fully operational hand pumper. Good times!...

October 8, 2011 Cody's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View After a few months' of party planning -- and a quick call our way -- we send along Engine 2 to make a surprise entrance at Cody's birthday at a local park. If we didn't win the birthday boy and his guests over with the big, red fire engine, unrolling the hose and helping water the grass probably did it!...

October 1, 2011 Kian's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View The gathering took on monumental efforts to coordinate the visit of a fire truck onto the streets of San Francisco, a park to host the gathering, right down to where everyone -- including the 28-foot long main attraction -- would park. Once that dust settled, it was time to gather one and all to celebrate Kian's birthday, check out the fire truck and even blast a bit of water around on the location's playground!...

September 24, 2011 Benicia Muster & Apparatus Display    (Category: Fun 'n Games)
Click here to View Benicia hosted a muster to honor and thank longtime volunteer battalion chief Ron Rice for his 56 years of service to the Benicia Volunteer Fire Department, as well as being a driving force behind the creation of the Benicia Fire Museum in 1981. After an opening parade, the water started flying as teams and their apparatus participated in muster activities (a fire-related competition involving hose wagons, bucket brigade, etc.)....

September 17, 2011 Bennett's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View It seemed key to start off the surprise of having the fire truck there for Bennett and his guests' arrival, so we were happy to park squarely in the driveway as each and everyone arrived to the party. As they arrived, they wasted little time in jumping into the truck and checking it out, even climbing atop the roof ladder to see things from a bird's eye view....

September 17, 2011 Caden's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View With some logistics around the visit worked out with the association, there was nothing left to do on the big day except have fun! From jackets and helmets right down the breathing gear face masks, Caden and his guests weren't at all shy about taking full advantage of the engine during its visit!...

September 10, 2011 Riley's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View Riley's birthday was quite the event: even the cake had a lime green fire truck on top. So, it stood to reason that there needed to be a lime green fire truck outside to be a part of the big day -- and we were all too happy to help out there! We rolled up, let Riley and his guests thoroughly explore the truck before rolling out the hose and letting them get things a little (or a lot) wet....

August 27, 2011 Cooper's Birthday    (Category: Birthdays)
Click here to View The birthday boy Cooper was easy to spot in his fire chief's helmet and coat as he stepped out to greet the truck when it arrived to help celebrate his birthday. Once we got everyone in uniform -- badges stuck in place -- the exploring and questions began. Cooper struck out on his own to look in each compartment, remove nearly every item, and ensure he knew what each was used for, and how -- and we were thrilled to tell him all about it all!...
